How it works
- 1Check the eligibility list and the open cycle dates.
- 2Fill in the five-step application. It saves as you go; twenty minutes is typical.
- 3You get a reference number by email straight away.
- 4We shortlist at the close of the cycle and may call you for a ten-minute chat.
- 5Decisions go to everyone by email. Funded athletes report back after their event; that report is what unlocks the next cycle for them.
Questions athletes ask
Who can apply for a grant?
Women and girls (16 and over) in South African endurance sport: trail and road running, gravel and road cycling, mountain biking, triathlon and swim-run. Four profiles qualify: development athletes, high-performance competitors, sports creatives, and community club or run/ride leaders.
How much can I ask for?
Up to R50 000 per cycle. Most grants are between R8 000 and R25 000. Partial funding is common, so tell us which lines matter most.
How is the money paid?
Against receipts or directly to the provider (race organiser, airline, shop). We do not pay cash stipends into personal accounts except for documented travel per diems.
Do I need to be a citizen?
You need to live and train in South Africa. Citizenship is not required.
Can I apply again?
Yes. Alumni can apply in any later cycle, and we prioritise athletes who reported back on their last grant.
